Practical Guide to Communication on Progress

The first version of the Practical Guide to Communication on Progress was launched in 2005. This current revised edition of the guide contains updated information about creating, sharing and posting of a COP as well as practical examples of how companies are communicating progress. Also included are helpful definitions, tips on where to begin, examples and relevant GRI indicators.

Embedding Human Rights in Business Practice II

The second version in the Embedding Human Rights in Business Practice series, jointly produced by the Global Compact Office and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, present 20 case studies of business action related to human rights issues. The cases highlight various types of actions related to company strategy, policy, processes and procedures, communications and measuring impact and auditing.

The Inspirational Guide to Implementing the United Nations Global Compact – Africa has been prepared on the occasion of the 2008 African Private Sector Forum, co-organized by the Commission of the African Union and the UN Global Compact. Case examples presented in this publication illustrate the wide range of innovative and sustainable activities being undertaken by businesses across Africa – from skills development in South Africa and small enterprise development in Mozambique, to combating workplace discrimination in Côte d’Ivoire and responsible waste management in Morocco.

2007 Global Compact Leaders Summit Meeting Report

The 2007 Global Compact Leaders Summit was the largest event ever organized by the United Nations on the topic of corporate citizenship. This report summarizes the discussions and outcomes of the 2-day meeting of more than 1, 000 Chief Executives from companies, Government Ministers and Heads of International Civil Society and Labour Organizations at the UN Office, in Geneva, Switzerland.

2007 Global Compact Annual Review

The Global Compact’s first Annual Review provides a comprehensive picture of the initiative and the efforts made by business and other stakeholders to advance the Global Compact's mission and principles. The review reveals the results of the first in-depth survey of Global Compact participants. Looking at business actions across several key areas – management, policy implementation, partnerships and local involvement, the survey shows how and why companies are implementing the ten principles and seeking partnerships.

The CEO Water Mandate

A group of leading global businesses will present the CEO Water Mandate, a strategic framework for action that covers several focus areas, ranging from supply chain and watershed management to community engagement and transparency. The framework’s action recommendations include production strategies, water-utilization audits and incentive systems for water recycling, the development of a water-sustainability agenda, and inclusion of the GRI guidelines in corporate reporting.

Guide to Human Rights Impact Assessment and Management

This 90-page guide is a joint publication of the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Global Compact Office. The guide offers companies an overall view of the process of implementing a human rights assessment and management program. The implementation process identifies eight crucial steps, beginning with contextualizing the process and setting baselines, moving on to managing implementation and ending with monitoring and evaluation.
